The United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund organized a pension information session on 31 October 2019 at the UN Secretariat in New York. The session was introduced by UNJSPF Acting CEO, Ms. Janice Dunn Lee, followed by Mr. Dino Dell’Accio, Chief of Information Systems and Telecommunications. Maria Clarissa O’Donnell, Chief of Operations, and Christine Cartner, Chief of Client Services, were the experts providing the presentations regarding benefits.

Ms. Janice Dunn Lee, introduced the event by providing key takeaways from the Pension Board meeting that took place last July in Nairobi. Ms. Dunn Lee highlighted the long-term financial stability of the Fund and the timely processing of the new separation cases.

Mr. Dino Dell’Accio followed by giving a brief update on the recent cyberattack the Fund suffered. “We did not experience any loss of data or any impact in our ability to process benefits or to process payments,” he said.

Ms. Maria Clarissa O’Donnell provided an overview on how the Fund and benefits work and Ms. Christine Cartner explained pension fund specific concepts and principles, such as the difference between mandatory age of retirement and normal retirement age, and key factors that determine pension benefits.

The presentations were followed by a Q&A.
