Ms. Rosemarie McClean, Chief Executive of Pension Administration
Rosemarie McClean started on 2 January 2020 as the Chief Executive of Pension Administration of the UN Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF). She succeeds Janice Dunn Lee, acting CEO, as head of the Fund’s secretariat, with a new title as decided by the UN General Assembly in December 2019. Ms. McClean was elected by the Pension Board, the UNJSPF steering body, in July 2019 and subsequently nominated in her function by the UN Secretary-General in August 2019.
“It’s a great honor to serve the Pension Fund, its participants, retirees and beneficiaries,” Ms. McClean said. “I am ready to meet the challenges and the opportunities ahead of us, and I believe I can leverage my experience in pension administration to deliver on objectives,” she added.
Ms. McClean brings to the position over 32 years of progressively responsible experience in pension administration and management. Previously she was Chief Operating Officer of the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan in Toronto where she managed a sizeable budget and was responsible for operational activities including financial operations for pension administration and investments, information technology, project management and process improvement.
Before that position, Ms. McClean served as Senior Vice-President of Member Services in the Pension Plan and was accountable for all aspects of service delivery to retired and working teachers in Ontario. Named as one of the Most Powerful Women in Canada by the Women’s Executive Network in 2008, she has mentored young leaders throughout her career.
Ms. McClean holds a Master of Business Administration from the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto, and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Management from the University of Waterloo. She holds a Certified Public Accountant designation.
Unfortunately, Ms. McClean was struck by a car while walking on a sidewalk on December 26. Due to her injuries, she is unable to travel for the time being and she will manage the Fund’s secretariat from Toronto (Canada) in the coming weeks until her full recovery.
