Know your pension: the Pension Townhalls initiative

20 December 2024

In 2024, the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF) Client Services launched a new initiative: the Pension Townhalls. These virtual sessions were designed to enhance communication and engagement with both UNJSPF participants and beneficiaries, providing a platform for direct interaction and information sharing.

Topics addressed by Client Services experts included: pension essentials for participants, separation and pre-retirement essentials, pension payment and two-track essentials, and pension essentials for retirees and beneficiaries.

The initiative has seen remarkable success so far:

  • A total of 14 virtual sessions were held, with 7 conducted in English and 7 in French.
  • Over 16,000 participants joined the live sessions.
  • The recordings of these sessions have been viewed more than 23,000 times.
  • More than 2,700 questions were asked and answered live by the UNJSPF Client Services staff.

Building on the success of this year’s sessions, the UNJSPF Client Services are planning to continue this initiative in 2025. More sessions on a variety of topics will be scheduled to further support and engage with the UNJSPF community.

Information related to the Pension Townhall sessions, including recordings and the schedule for future sessions, is available on the UNJSPF website. This ensures that all participants and beneficiaries can stay informed and engaged, even if they were unable to attend the live sessions.
